The Biden-Harris Administration has announced that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace enrollments continue soaring at a record-breaking rate on HealthCare.gov. As of December 15, 2023, the government preliminary projects that over 19 million consumers will enroll in 2024 coverage through the ACA Marketplaces in HealthCare.gov states and by December 9, 2023, in State-based Marketplaces. These figures surpass the enrollment figures by over 7 million since President Bidenās inauguration. Among these, 15.3 million individuals have chosen a health plan via the HealthCare.gov platform, marking the highest single-day enrollment in history.
Secretary Xavier Becerra highlighted the positive significance of millions of Americans enrolling for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act, emphasizing that it ensures greater peace of mind, knowing that seeking medical assistance wonāt lead to financial strain. He reiterated the commitment of the Biden-Harris Administration to continue extending healthcare coverage and reducing prescription drug expenses, aiming to make healthcare accessibility more equitable and not a privilege based on affordability. TheĀ Inflation Reduction ActĀ and theĀ American Rescue PlanĀ strive to maintain the affordability of Marketplace coverage, demonstrating the administrationās steadfast commitment to ensuring accessible healthcare for all.
Urging Families to Shop for Health Care on HealthCare.gov
The Biden-Harris Administration urges all families to explore HealthCare.gov and review the healthcare coverage choices and potential savings offered to them. Due to ongoing measures outlined in the Inflation Reduction Act, CMS anticipates that nine out of every ten customers will qualify for savings.
Numerous individuals qualify for Medicaid and the Childrenās Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Yet, thoseĀ who no longer meet the eligibility criteria for Medicaid or CHIPĀ are encouraged to visit HealthCare.gov to check if they currently qualify to enroll in an affordable and high-quality health plan.
People will also gain advantages from an intensely competitive Marketplace. Over 90% of HealthCare.gov enrollees will have the option to select from three or more plans. The Biden-Harris Administration has simplified comparing and picking plans by introducing standardized plans that provide similar benefits at equivalent cost-sharing levels. This initiative allows consumers to concentrate on other essential plan features, such as premiums and provider networks.
The Marketplace Is Still Open
The typical Marketplace Open Enrollment Period on HealthCare.gov usually spans from November 1 to January 15. However, in 2024, since January 15 falls on a federal holiday, consumers will have until midnight on Tuesday, January 16 (5 a.m. EST on January 17) to enroll in coverage. Individuals who enroll before the January 16 deadline will receive coverage starting from February 1, 2024.
