Jesse’s Insurance Journey

For the previous nine years, Jesse Zavala has bravely fought blazes as a firefighter in El Paso, Texas. His work at the fire department is rewarding, but Jesse says he has always worked two jobs throughout his life, so over two years ago, he decided to look for a second career to supplement his income. His best friend comes from a family of insurance agents that runs a family firm, and that buddy encouraged Jesse to seek an insurance sales career. His friend explained that if an independent agent partners with a broker, that agent can work as his own boss. Jesse watched YouTube videos, purchased a study book, and soon passed the insurance licensing test.

Everything seemed to point upward for the El Paso native. Unfortunately for Jesse, his first few encounters with brokers were less than satisfactory. Mentorship and assistance were unavailable to him when he needed them in the field. Another organization asked him to quit his job at the fire department. A different broker put unreasonable sales demands on Jesse. Landing a mutually beneficial partnership with a field marketing organization was challenging. These experiences were discouraging and nearly prompted Jesse to leave his new career and forget about selling insurance.

Jesse’s friend came through for him again when he searched and learned of Empower Brokerage and its El Paso Regional Sales Director (RSD), Hector Gomez. Once Hector spoke with Jesse, he knew that Empower Brokerage was the right brokerage to partner with. Jesse saw the difference immediately. One of his previous agency employers recently attempted to recruit him back to their fold, but Jesse was uninterested in the suggestion.Why would I leave [Empower Brokerage] when I can do everything I did [before], get all this free, and get paid more?”

Mr. Zavala started his insurance career introducing life solutions to customers but eventually branched out and helped clients solve health coverage problems as well. He likes to build trust before asking people about their insurance needs. Jesse feels lucky to have found and spoken with the right people to help them find coverage. His fellow firefighters and border patrol agents that he knows are among his clients.

Jesse’s Family, Hobbies, and Advice

Mr. Zavala’s wife and three children are his priority, and he wants to provide for them the best he can. His insurance career helps him do that. He is an active father and husband and treasures spending his free time with his family. Furthermore, his work as a firefighter is dangerous, so with his family in mind, he understands the significance of obtaining life insurance.I always encourage people. Life insurance is a must in people’s lives. I’m doing it for my family.Jesse also enjoys working out and going for a run. Additionally, he is enthusiastic about riding motorcycles.

Although relatively new to selling policies, Jesse has quickly become successful in his insurance endeavors. What would he advise those thinking of embarking on an insurance career?I know it is hard at the beginning. Do not give up. Keep going.says Jesse.You really got be out there if you want to make money, but the insurance industry is booming. It is a great career.” One day, Jesse could see himself aiding others in a similar way that Hector Gomez does. Jesse Zavala cares about people, and his outlook will surely benefit him in the future. That compassion drew him to his two jobs and why he serves his community well in both ventures.
