A new Pandemic relief package might be headed our way amounting to three trillion dollars. With current state budgets all over the place, The House will vote on the relief package. The package has its pros and cons such as putting more money into the pockets of Americans, but many believe the legislation will not pass, President Trump stating the package is “DOA. Dead on arrival.”
Pelosi Leads The Charge On Pandemic Relief Package
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi signaled Thursday that she is open to negotiating the new pandemic relief package in hopes to get the offer through the door and becoming law. Pelosi noted in a letter sent to House members that the legislation includes many priorities that were included in the latest legislation. “It is important to note that more than 80 percent of the priorities in the Heroes Act has been supported by the Republicans in the four previous COVID-19 acts of Congress. We are proud of how we built on that bipartisanship and look forward to negotiations For The People,” Pelosi wrote.
What The Package Consist Of
The relief package would give additional payments of cash to Americans, allocate $1trillion in aid for local, state, and tribal governments, assistance for essential front line workers as well as an extension of unemployment benefits. If the package is passed it would be the largest spending package in US History, though many still believe it will not get supported.
Reactions From Senators
Senator John Barrasso stated “This will not pass. It’s not going to be supported,”. GOP Senator Lindsey Graham told reporters the price tag on the bill was too high and believed there are too many unrelated provisions that are included in the bill. Some have even gone as far as to claim the piece of legislation is a voting package that expands access to mail-in ballots.
The package will be voted on Friday afternoon at some point when the House meets. Stay tuned as we give you updates prior to the outcome of the huge bill.
