Non-alcoholic Beer?
Usually, when we think of a nonalcoholic beverage, beer is not the first thing to pop into our minds. It seems like it would be the complete opposite. However, there has been a rise in demand for non-alcoholic beer.
The most obvious reason would be the lack of alcohol in the drink. It allows those who are looking into calming their drinking habits to just simply enjoy the taste of a beer without the mind-altering consequences. It may seem that the beer is sacrificing its taste to stay pure and healthy. However, that is not the case. In fact, the breweries that are hopping on the NA trend are taking more time to ensure that the drink tastes as much like beer as possible. For example, Heineken takes an already fully fermented beer and simply works to remove the alcohol through distillation and blending.
Removing the alcohol also serves to remove the bulk of the calories present in the drink. This is another great reason the demand for NA beer is growing. It offers a healthier alternative to the average beer. On average, a normal beer has about 150 calories, while a non-alcoholic beer will only have about 60-80. So, instead of only enjoying one drink with your meal, you can have about two or three for the same number of calories. No cheat day required!
Another reason you might want to get in on the NA trend is to avoid sticking out so much when out with friends. I am not saying anyone needs to try and “fit in” but if you want to avoid the constant questions about what you are drinking, non-alcoholic beer is perfect for you. It looks like beer, smells like beer, and even tastes like beer. It is ideal for enjoying a social night out with friends and still staying sober.
Non-alcoholic beer still has a long way to go in terms of being accepted as a real alcoholic beverage, but it is getting there. Most adults are not looking to get drunk when they go out, but they do enjoy the taste of a beer. The non-alcoholic beer industry will continue to flourish as it is a great compromise between both.
